Building the Band is a fresh‑take reality singing competition that premiered on 9 July 2025, hosted by AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys. Fifty promising vocalists begin the journey in sound‑isolated booths, unable to see one another, and must audition blindly based purely on vocal talent. As singers build musical chemistry, they later meet face‑to‑face and work through rehearsals, choreography and identity building. Jono works on and off screen as a vocal coach and arranger for the bands, helping them form some spectacular performances in a Netflix first. Mentors include Nicole Scherzinger (judge and coach), Kelly Rowland, and Liam Payne in his final TV appearance — this season was dedicated to his memory after his tragic death in October 2024. The competition culminates in one band winning a $500,000 prize.
